Sophie's Brainstorm for her issue.
The month I will be creating for the magazine is the November issue. This issue will be for bonfire night, having the colour scheme of black and red because this was the colour scheme prefered by the readers - although I will be adding blue, and white in too, becuase these colours are assotiated with fireworks. The cover will be simple, with afew fire works in the background, infront of a deep blue night sky, near the top of the page, with the featured band underneath, looking up at the camera, as if it is a firework too. The masthead will be at the top of the page, in red and blue, with no background so you can see the fireworks. The masthead wil be in full view, because it is a new released magazine. There will be a quote of the band to one side of the band, letting the redaer know the mood and gist of what will be in the interview. In a banner across the bottom of the page will be pictures of the inclused posters, and names of bands included.
Amy's Brainstorm for her issue.
This magazine will cover music genres such as Rock/Metal/Indie. The colour scheme for the magazine will be black, red, and i will also put some orange in, because these colours are assotiated with Halloween, and they will stand out when they are put together. The target audience will be both male and female 16 to 21 year olds or anyone who likes the rock genre. The name of our magazine will be "smash music", this is because the name is different and unique. The issue I will be making is the october issue, which will be about halloween gigs and will include parties for all to come, there will also be special halloween posters of the band covered in this issue.(But these will only be seen as a preview on the front cover).
The survey results.
The results of our survey are as follows:
The age range is from 16 to 21.
The prefered genres of music are Rock/Indie/and Metal.
The majorety of people read/buy music magazines, but we will have to incluse a URL for those who rather look it up on the internet.
The main things that people look for in a magazine are interviews/new music/new bands and release dtaes for singles and albums.
The two colours mostly prefered is Black and Red. So this will be the main colour scheme, but for the special magazines of bonfire night, and halloween, we will have to ad one more colour for text etc.
The cover is prefered to be simple, so we will put a simple, blank background for the cover. The only things ontop of the background will be the band, and a few poster previews.

Double page spread analysis.
RockSound double page spread.
This interview with The Wild hearts is split in two. On one side of the page is a big picture of the band's lead singer, "Ginger". The colour scheme for these two pages is red, black, and white. Even the image of the lead singer has been edited to make it take on a red-ish look. The main focus is the lead singer, this is because it is mostly an interview with him, rather than his band mates. On the other side of the page is one big red block, this there is the whole interview, types in white text. Near the top of the second page, there is a white jagged text box with a quote form the interview in black text, that looks like someone has written it by hand. There are four text boxes across the double page spread, two in white, and two in red. The expression of "Ginger" is very serious, this is because it is a serious interview. The first three letters of the interview is in written font, which attracts the reader because it stands out from the other style of font that is followed throughout the interview. There are three types of font in this double page spread, making it not too busy, but yet, not too simple at the time. Underneath the the band's name is the sub-heading "Positive Thinking", which gives he reader an idea of what he interview will be like. Some of this interview is quite formal, but other parts of it use slang, like "Oz", and "down under", for Australia, so it reaches all ages. There is talk of the bands tour, the band members, who plays what, and other big names like AC/DC, and INXS.

Sophie's Q contents page analysis.
In the centre of this double page spread is a low angle, Extreme Close Up. The angle of the image makes the band look more important. This picture is of "The Killers", who are the main focus point for this issue. The picture is of the quartet in a desert setting, surrounded by broken mannequins, and shrubs. All four members of the band are wearing dark clothes, which makes the contrast between the band and the light background. At the left hand side corner of the picture are two smaller images. One is of the front cover, and the other is of the band "Take That". At the bottom of the page there are five pictures of what is on some of the issues other pages, like a preview of what to expect. In two blocks, either side of the page, are what is on the cover, random headlines from the issue., and a review of the section on page 89. The font, and size of the text is very different, it ranges from big type writer txt, to small Times New Roman Text. This magazine is quite masculine because of how it is set out, and the images portrayed. You can also see that most of the colours are quite dull, greys and black, but when it comes to the women in the magazine, the colours become bright. There are also a border on this page, of what seems to be a film strip.
Amy's contents page analysis.
The contents page of the rock sound has just one page for the contents of the magazine. There's just one image of the main band that is being used for the story, it also relates as they are on the front cover of the magazine as well. The typography of the text is messy as it resembles the target audience as they are mainly teens and what people refer to as rockers. There is only one image that is of the main band. They have serious expressions which makes them look more powerful, and important. This can describe the attitude of the band too. They also use dark colours, this can draw attention as it is in contrast with the white/cream page opposite to it. The main genres is rock and music along them lines. The target audience would be people who are interested in the genre of rock, another would be teenagers, as many turn to this kind of music as they can resemble to it. The blue in contrast with the black, as it stands out from the black. The language is informal as they allow the text to be understood better because it is written in the way the audience would most likely put too. There is also a quote from the band which is also informal.

Analysis of front cover.
Both Amy and I did the work together so we only have one analysis.
Alternative press.
The background is black, giving of the impression of seriousness. It also makes your eyes catch onto Gerard's face, because there is no distractions in the background.
The text for this cover is white, yellow, and orange. These colours stand out a lot in contrast with the black background as they are brighter and still allow it to be bold without taking the focus off the main topic of Gerard way. The title banner at the top of the magazine cover is bright yellow, and in front of the singer - although this text is slightly transparent so you can see Gerard's head too. This colour is bold, contrasting with the darkness of Gerard's black hair, which makes the logo more eye catching.
There is a medium close up shot of Gerard in dark clothes, this suggests the seriousness of the image. He also has a serious expression on his face which can also grab the readers attention. However, his eyes have been enhanced with a lighter colour making them bolder than what they would have been. There is also a shine added to his eyes as there wouldn't normally be that visible. To the side of the singer, the magazine states "Most Anticipated albums of 2010", which draws in the reader further, as it trigers the interests of the reader.
NME magazine.
The background for this magazine is light grey. there is a medium long shot of the band with Hayley Williams (lead singer) in front of the other band members, she stands out with her orange hair and hot pink lips, which is in contrast with her skin tone. She is in front of the NME logo, whereas the other members are behind it, singling her out of the group, making the readers eyes catch onto her more. The quintette all have serious expressions, and are wearing dark clothes, this suggests the seriousness of their work. Below the band, in bold white and pink text is the headline, "Guns, God & 4million albums sold PARAMORE Everyone else has fallen for them, will you?". This is the main story of the magazine, hence why it is in large, and bold text. There are blocks of text to the left of the band stating the contents of the magazine, along with a pog in the right-hand top corner stating "Mumford & sons bigger than muse!".
Rock Sound.
The background is a light blue showing a relaxed nature. There is a long shot of the band all time low, they also have their own unique poses. the proximity of the band is close, this can represent how close they are in the band, as friends. The the text used for the title is red. it is also blocked by three members of the band, showing this is a very well known magazine. above the title there is a smaller banner stating four bands names included in the magazine. there is a smaller banner at the bottom of the cover, which has bands names in red, and white text this allows them to be bold but as the font size is smaller it doesn't take to much attention away from the other main headlines. in front of the lead singer's hand, is the bands name, with the quote "we want to be the biggest band in the world".The image make's it seem as if he is pushing the name of the band at the readers. there are small pictures of the posters and stickers included with the magazine. in the bottom right hand corner there is also a picture of paramore's lead singer with text saying "their biggest triumph yet" this is also showing other stories included in the magazine. There is also a pog included, this allows the reader to view the competitions included. this specific pog tells the reader that they could win VIP tickets to to leeds and reading festival.
Kerrang!
The background of the cover is dark colours that turn deep red at the sides. this allows there to be bold colours, without diverting the readers attention to the main focus of the band. the title of the magazine is blocked by two of the band members, showing they are to two front men, it also shows the magazine is well known. all the member of the band have serious expressions. the bands name is in a large font in the middle of the cover with smaller red text underneath saying "the best in town go global!". this is the main story covered in the magazine. it also shows small pictures of the posters included in the magazine, along with a picture of Green Day's latest album, telling the reader of the review if "21st Century breakdown". The text for this issue is in three colours, these being white, red, and yellow. This makes the text stand out more. There is also two banners, one at the top, and one at the bottom, saying names of bands that are included in this issue of the magazine.
